The Edit Member screen in Skoppe lets organization owners and authorized administrators manage one person’s access without leaving the Members & Access area. You can update the member’s role and status, review role-based permissions, create supported permission overrides, control project access, and understand whether the member uses a paid seat.
Before you edit a member
Your available options depend on your own organization role and permissions. Some settings are restricted to owners or organization administrators. Skoppe may also prevent changes that would remove required owner access, grant permissions above your own access level, or create an invalid organization setup.
Edit an individual member
- Open Organization Settings and select Members & Access.
- Find the member by reviewing the list or using the search and filters.
- Select Edit beside the member you want to update.
- Review the member’s name, email address, current role, and status.
- Open the Role field and select the organization role that matches the member’s responsibilities.
- Open the Status field when you need to activate, restrict, reject, or otherwise update the member’s current state.
- Read the role summary beneath the fields to understand the standard access included with the selected role.
- Leave permissions on Role default when the member should follow the normal access rules for that role.
- Select Customize permissions when the member needs supported access that differs from the role default.
- Review each available organization permission and choose the appropriate setting.
- In the Projects section, choose All projects, Selected projects, or No project access, based on the available options.
- Select Manage projects to review and update individual project assignments.
- Review the selected project count and project summary before continuing.
- Review the billing impact if the selected role or status creates, removes, or changes a paid seat.
- Select Save Changes to update the member.

FAQ
How do I open the Edit Member screen?
Open Organization Settings, select Members & Access, locate the member, and select Edit in that member’s row.
What does Role default mean?
Role default means the permission follows the normal access assigned to the member’s selected organization role. This is the recommended setting for most members.
When should I use Customize permissions?
Use Customize permissions only when the member needs access that differs from the standard permissions included with the role.
What permissions can I customize?
Depending on your role and Skoppe’s current permission rules, options may include billing access, inviting organization members, inviting project members, awarding subcontractors, and managing member settings.
Why is a permission unavailable?
Some permissions can only be granted to certain roles or by authorized owners and administrators. You also cannot grant access above your own permission level.
How do I give a member access to selected projects?
Set Project Access to Selected projects, select Manage projects, choose the projects the member should access, and then save the member changes.
What happens if I choose No project access?
The person remains an organization member but will not be able to access organization projects unless project access is granted later.
Does changing a role affect project access?
It may affect the member’s standard permissions, but project assignments are managed separately. Review the Projects section before saving any role change.
How can I tell whether the member uses a paid seat?
Review the billing information in the member list or the billing impact shown in the Edit Member screen. Billable roles may add a monthly charge.
Why is Save Changes disabled?
Save Changes stays disabled when nothing has changed, a selected option is not allowed, required information is missing, or Skoppe is currently saving the update.
Can I remove an owner’s access?
Skoppe may block changes that would leave the organization without a valid owner. Ownership may need to be transferred before the current owner can be removed or downgraded.
